how to save massive time shopping online

I think we’ve all been there – you’ve decided to buy something new online but you only want to buy the best product for your needs at the absolute lowest price. If you’re not going to let one of our staff members do all of the product and price shopping for you (for free), here are three quick steps to save a lot of time, money, and get a really high quality product you’ll be happy with.

Leverage Amazon’s Search Algorithm

Even if you’re not going to buy from Amazon.com, this is a very worthwhile and useful step. Amazon is the largest online retailer in the world, and you’ll be amazed how helpful their search algorithm is once you place a little trust in it. They’ve spent millions upon millions of dollars getting it right, and it can almost always do most of the heavy lifting for you.

Want a new digital camera but not sure which are the best on the market? Just punch the search phrase “digital camera” into Amazon and pay attention to the highest reviewed products in your price range:

Tens of thousands of other people before you have already done a lot of the research and held many of these products side-by-side. Amazon is crunching all of that data behind the scenes to present customers like you with the products most likely to meet their needs. And if you have more specific requirements (budget, optical zoom requirements, etc…) just use their filtering options to narrow down the choices.

This is the best way to rapidly narrow down your buying options to 2-3 choices. After that, it’s all about finding the best price.

Use PriceBlink to Find the Best Prices

PriceBlink is a browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Internet Explorer. Whenever you’re viewing a product on any major retailer’s website, you’ll see a yellow bar across the top showing you where you can get that product online for the cheapest price. For example, if I open up the first option from my earlier Amazon search, I see this:

For this particular item I can be sure I’m paying the lowest price if I buy it from Amazon. I can also click the “Compare Prices” option and quickly see what Ebay, Overstock, Newegg, and many other retailers have this product listed for. I checked them all and in this instance, PriceBlink was absolutely correct – there isn’t anywhere else online I can find this product brand new for less.

Unfortunately PriceBlink isn’t always perfect, so it’s important to check it against another popular browser extension before hitting the “But It Now” button.

Use The Camelizer to Ensure It’s a Good Deal

The Camelizer is another browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, and Safari, but you can also check the products you’re shopping for on their website using the product name, model number, or Amazon URL. If you’re using the browser extension, a tiny icon populates in your browser’s status bar that you can click whenever looking at a product online:

The Camelizer has confirmed that Amazon does, in fact, have the lowest price available online for buying this item brand new. Unfortunately Camelizer nor CamelCamelCamel.com show you which retailer actually has the lower price if it beats Amazon, so you’ll likely have to do a bit more digging if you see that another site has Amazon’s price beat. Typically you can find that information pretty easily by hopping over to Google Shopping and punching in the product name or model number, then finding the lowest price.

Conclusion

Now you know how to save a ton of time and effort when shopping for the best products at the lowest prices online. Why go to all of the trouble of installing these web extensions, bouncing between multiple sites, and finally pinpointing a deal when our shopping experts will do it for you for free? Save even more time by using our free shopping service – we’ll have a report in your inbox within 24 hours.

I hope you found all of this shopping and price comparison information to be helpful – happy price hunting!
